Let Go Of…

I wonder why we tend to hold on to things, good or bad, well let’s face it especially the bad. Is it because we’re conditioned to accept that happiness only comes to a few, and even if it does to others, it isn’t necessarily a permanent state, while pain and sorrows are easier and more natural state of the mind? Why is happiness made such a big deal of, as if it were a rare gem to find? Too often we forget that we are all humans made of the same skin and bones, and it’s our emotions and how we deal with them, that sets us apart. There is grace and love in letting go, no matter how hard it is to. Isn’t always easy, but if it’s worth it is an answer you’d get when you break free from the shackles that bind you with something you no longer relate to, or belong with.

So, as the year comes to an end, let go of…

15 Signs You’ve Found ‘The One’

* **Lifeline has a special post today, in collaboration with Candace, from Pocketful of Smiles. Candace and I seem to share a similar mindset about life and relationships, hence this collaboration from two different countries, because the essence of life and its musings are just the same, across the world. Do head to her blog, for snippets on life, relationships and all things positive***

Love is easy they say; relationships aren’t. Well, seems like they haven’t found their right one yet, for that’s not what the right ones make you feel. In a world filled with complex emotions and myriad of people, you’re bound to attract both good and bad, right and wrong. How do you know then, that you’re in love with the right person? More often than not, you just know! Despite the practical world we live in, the emotions we deal with and the battles we fight, our hearts just know when the person we’re with, is the right one. Here are a few more signs that you found the right one.

1. They love you for who you are. They love you with all your imperfections and flaws. They don’t lay conditions for you to be more loved. They understand that you’re human, and bound to be imperfect, or make mistakes. They don’t just love you for your good; they accept your bad and ugly sides too. This way, you feel comfortable to be unapologetically yourself with them.

Places I Didn’t Belong

eutah-mizushima-26887-unsplash.jpg

Sitting with that group of friends, laughing out loud. Drinks on the table, and music louder than our words. They laughed, and so did I, despite the fact, that the joke was on me. Again. Deep down, I wanted to just cuddle with my blanket, a book in hand and coffee by my side, yet here I was, surrounded by the cool ones, yet alone. The echo in the conversations, were a painful reminder of how far I had come, to a place I didn’t belong.

Soulmates — Imperfect and Real

ahmmed-641877-unsplash.jpg

Soulmates. Unlike fairy tales, they don’t come riding on white horses or in princess’ gowns. They’ll enter your life when you least expect it. Sometimes, they’ll be right next to you all along, but it may take ages for you to recognize them. Sometimes you’ll have to kiss a lot of frogs before you reach them, sometimes you won’t.

Hidden In My Tomorrow

“I’ll start tomorrow, I’ll do it tomorrow” I’ve been saying for years. Tomorrow sure seems to be too busy to arrive, for all the things I want to do tomorrow, often stays in tomorrow forever. So I decided to rummage through my tomorrows, and like a treasure stored in a dusty corner, I found treasures of my own, that had been hiding in my tomorrows. Hidden in my tomorrows, I found…

1. That leap of faith I decided to take. Tomorrow never came, and I remained stuck in the same place.

2. That diet I was supposed to start. Tomorrow never came, and I kept finding solace in junk food.

Toxic Much? How to Deal With Toxic Relationships

Like it or not, toxic people do exist, and more often, they exist too close to us, right in our circles; it could be a friend, a colleague, a partner or a family member. Relationships that are supposed to nurture and build you, can sometimes do just the opposite, and bring you down instead.

Surprisingly, a lot of us put up with toxic relationships, because we don’t find a way out, or we don’t realize that we’re stuck in a toxic bind.

How do you recognize toxic people?

Profound quotes from “Me Before You”

Late one night, as I surfed through movies to watch, a particular one caught my attention. Titled “Me Before You”, and a poetic poster to go with it, i decided to watch it, only to kill time. By the end of the movie, I became a fan, and how!

Based on a novel by Jojo Moyes, Me Before You, is the story of Louisa Clark and Will Traynor, played by exceptional actors, breathing life into the well written characters. In a bid to help the quadriplegic Will Traynor, believe in living life again, Louisa gets helped instead, getting out of her shell she didn’t even know she was living in. As the two fall in love, the story highlights more on the essence of life and its colors, and the importance of living well, no matter how long you live, or where you do! My take away from the movie was to live simply, boldly and just live! You’ve got only one life after all.

I’d recommend everyone who’s into such genre of movies to watch it, and delve into the life insights it takes you through. Until then, here are some impressive quotes from the movie and the book, about life and love.
